There’s a lot of confusion surrounding the world of mediums, so it’s important to clear up some common misconceptions. When it comes to the differences between a medium and a psychic, the area becomes even grayer.
This is because some psychics are also mediums, and all mediums are psychic. Some even offer both services to their clients. But, on their own, they are two different things. Having an understanding of both can help you to decide how each service might be able to help you.

What Does a Psychic Do?
People call on psychics for a variety of reasons. Ultimately, a psychic session is about a connection between the mind, body, and spirit.
Psychic readings can offer everything from advice and inspiration, to giving you new inspiration toward something you might be struggling with.
Psychics use a variety of different methods and tools to receive information about their client’s energy. They can use their intuition to draw up information about that person’s past, what’s going on in their present, or even their future.

What Does a Medium Do?
A medium’s main job is to connect with their client’s loved one or another individual they might be “searching” for. Giving as much detailed information about that person to the client is important so they can be assured they are working directly with the person in question who has passed on.
For some mediums, having an item of the person who has passed on or even a bit of history can help with the connection. But, it isn’t always necessary depending on the deceased person who wants to come through in the session.
The intention of a medium isn’t to predict the future or even dig into the present. It’s to let the person sitting with them know that their loved one(s) are still there, and still actively a part of their lives. Through a medium, a deceased loved one can relay messages of support and healing. They can also give information to the medium that would only otherwise be known by the client.

What’s the Difference?
Again, mediums don’t typically predict things the way psychics do. People who come to mediums are usually less interested in things like their finances, careers, family lives, etc. They want some kind of closure and hope from their deceased loved ones.
However, because they have the ability to connect with the spirit world, mediums are, indeed, psychic.
If someone you love has passed on, and you’re looking to connect with them for closure, it’s best to contact a medium. You can find that hope you really need in knowing the person you cared for is still with you every day.
If you’re looking for more information about your future or what might be ahead of you, a psychic may be your best solution. No matter which option you choose (even if it's both!), it’s important to keep an open mind and heart as you attend your sessions. Want to learn more?
